The Union Inn Hotel was built in 1880 by four itinerate French Canadians for $400. It was a boarding house for hard-working miners and locals until the 1920's. It enjoyed a brief reawakening in the 1950's, and thereafter it was, by turns, vacant and empty, a private residence, and finally it was restored into a lovely destination in 2000 by the David/Burney Family.
Now the Volcano Union Inn is reborn as a California Pub and Four-Room Bed and Breakfast in the picturesque village of Volcano, deep in the heart of Amador County and the California Gold Country.
Springtime is the favorite of the staff when the hills turn green and are dotted with blooming flowers. Daffodil Hill is an annual attraction that draws hundreds of visitors on sunny days. The sunny warm days and cool evenings are perfect to enjoy the balcony of the Inn for our overnight guests or the patio at the Pub for those dining with us. The Volcano Theatre Company begins their 40th Season in April. If you haven't attended a production in the fifty-seat theatre, its a must for your list! Fishing in our local lakes and streams is always a great way to relax during your visit. There is great music to listen to at many local venues or you can try a spin with lady luck at the Jackson Casino. Our local wineries welcome you to enjoy the awakening in the vineyards always have fun events to enjoy and delicious wines to bring home with you! Whatever is your choice we hope that you make the Union part of your visit to Amador.
